CHEREVICHKIOTVICHKI is an artisanal footwear and leather goods label founded by Victoria Andrejeva in 2011. Victoria grew up in Lithuania surrounded by the remnants of Soviets while witnessing the rapid reclaimation of Baltic heritage. She established the brand as a small-scale studio practice that transforms everyday objects into wearables. The name itself loosely translates to “a shoe by Victoria” in old Slavic language.

While design and development take place in London, production is carried out in Italy’s Marche region, a historic center of shoemaking renowned for its centuries-old cordwaining tradition. Each pair is carefully handcrafted using time-honored techniques and carefully selected leathers under the supervision of Victoria. In the brand’s first season of operation, Rei Kawakubo personally platformed the label across Paris and Tokyo Comme Des Garcons Trading Museums and Dover Street Market in London.

Five years later, Victoria was invited by Yohji Yamamoto to produce a footwear and bags collaboration for the Yohji Yamamoto Autumn Winter 2016 womensewar collection. This marked the beginning of a long-running partnership that would span more than two dozen collections, producing some of the most sought-after footwear within the Yohji Yamamoto universe.

This geometrical leather boot, featuring a hand-hammered hexagonal heel, appeared in Look 25 of Yohji Yamamoto’s Autumn Winter 2018 womenswear collection. The season was a heartfelt departure for Azzedine Alaia, a longtime friend of Yamamoto whose relationship dated back to 1987. The show unfolded almost entirely in ensembles of black, creating a sombre atmosphere that mourned Alaïa’s passing while remaining unmistakably Yamamoto in construction. Layered coats, wrapped jackets, and pleated garments produced fractured silhouettes inspired by Cubist painting while subtly referencing Alaia’s legacy of sculptural tailoring.
